Meet Dr. Catherine McLeod
A Dalhousie alum and honours graduate, Dr. McLeod received her Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Dalhousie University in 2006, where she was recognized with awards for her clinical research achievements. After her dental training, she completed a one-year, full-time pediatric dental residency at the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children where she provided dental care for children with medical complications and special needs.
This additional training in treating children developed her gentle caring approach to dealing with patients of all ages and a deep understanding of how orthodontics can provide a transformative life experience. Dr. McLeod attended the University of Manitoba to pursue three years of specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, and earned both her specialty certificate in orthodontics and Master of Science in 2010.
Dr. McLeod practiced for three years as a specialist orthodontist in Sydney, Australia, where she worked alongside leading international orthodontists and gained further expertise on the variety of treatments and technologies available across the world. In 2013, fueled by her desire to live closer to her large family, Dr. McLeod returned home to Nova Scotia to launch her Bridgewater practice, Embrace Orthodontics.
After spending two years successfully growing a solo practice, she was happy to expand her services to a second location by joining Park Lane Dental Specialists. This expansion was designed to provide enhanced patient care and service from our family of specialists.
Dr. McLeod specializes in blending personalized orthodontic care at each visit with the latest technology to produce excellent results in the fastest time possible. Her focus is on treatments tailored to children and adults that often avoid the removal of adult teeth and jaw surgery, where possible.
Dr. McLeod is a board-certified orthodontist in Australia and Canada, a fellow of The Royal College of Dentists of Canada, president of the South Shore Dental Society, a Preferred Provider of Invisalign® and Invisalign Teen®, and an international lecturer and published author.
Outside work, Dr. McLeod is a keen sailor and loves going to auctions to add to her growing antique collection. She is also in the process of being brainwashed by her husband to love the Toronto Blue Jays.
