By concern

The concerns behind these smiles

The filters above sort the gallery by the problem each case started with, because most people arrive thinking about one particular thing. Protruding or buck teeth and a deep overbite are among the most common, along with gaps and spacing that someone has lived with for years. Others come in because of blocked or impacted canines that never came through as they should, or a deep bite where the top teeth cover too much of the bottom ones.

Whatever the starting point, the plan is always built around your own bite rather than a template, and Dr. Catherine McLeod will explain which concern is cosmetic, which affects how your teeth actually work, and which is worth treating now versus simply watching. If you are not sure what to call the thing you would like to change, that is completely fine. Bring it to a consultation and we will name it together.

More than a photo

What a before and after really shows

A good before and after is easy to enjoy, but it is worth knowing what you are actually looking at. Each pair here is one real person, photographed at the start and the end of their treatment with Dr. Catherine McLeod, and shared with their permission. The change you see is not only cosmetic. Straightening teeth also lines up the bite, so the teeth meet evenly, clean more easily, and wear down less over the years. A smile that looks better usually works better too, and that is the part that lasts.

What a gallery cannot show is that every mouth is different. Two people with what looks like the same crowding can need quite different treatment, and quite different lengths of time, because their teeth, jaws and goals are their own. That is why we never promise a specific result or timeline from a photo. The honest version is the one Dr. Catherine McLeod gives in person: a clear look at your own smile and what is realistically possible for it, explained simply, before you decide anything.

The honest bit

Straight teeth, and keeping them that way

Here is something a lot of before-and-after pages leave out: teeth can drift throughout life, with or without braces. Finishing treatment is not the end of the story, it is the start of looking after the result. That is why retainers matter, and why we are upfront about them from the very beginning rather than as an afterthought. Wear your retainers as advised, usually just at night, and the smile you see in these afters is one you get to keep for the long term.

It is also why the approach behind the result counts as much as the result itself. Dr. Catherine McLeod is a specialist orthodontist who plans each case conservatively, working to avoid removing healthy teeth or resorting to jaw surgery wherever it is clinically possible. A smile that is finished carefully, with the bite balanced and the roots sitting in healthy positions, is a smile that holds up. You can see the full range of what we do, from braces to clear aligners, on our treatments page.

In their words

See the smiles, then hear the stories

Photographs tell one side of the story. The other side is how treatment actually felt, and that comes through best in patients' own words. You can read what Halifax families say about Dr. Catherine McLeod and the team on our testimonials page, and you are always welcome to look up Embrace Orthodontics on Google to read our reviews unfiltered. We would rather you heard it from them than from us.

If a smile here looks a little like the one you would like, the next step is simple. Book a free consultation and Dr. Catherine McLeod will tell you honestly what is possible for your own teeth, with a clear plan and a written quote, no referral needed and no obligation to go ahead.
