Meet Dr. Catherine McLeod from home
Start your smile journey over Zoom, from your sofa, anywhere in Nova Scotia. Free, with no referral needed, and every bit as thorough on the questions that matter. Meet Dr. Catherine McLeod from home before you ever commit to an in-office visit, and stay connected with photo check-ins once treatment is under way.

How the virtual consultation works
1. Book a time
Request a virtual consult and our coordinator confirms a Zoom time that suits you, usually within one business day.
2. Send your photos
Take the six simple smile photos below at home and email them to us before your appointment.
3. Meet Dr. Catherine McLeod
She reviews your smile, talks you through your options without any jargon, and gives you your financial information.
4. Decide in your own time
If treatment suits you, the next step is a short in-person visit for records. No obligation either way.
Virtual monitoring once treatment is under way
Virtual care is not only for the first hello. Once your treatment is under way, we can keep an eye on your progress remotely too, using simple photo check-ins from your phone. Instead of coming in for every small review, you send us a few clear photos of your teeth, and Dr. Catherine McLeod checks that everything is tracking the way it should, that your aligners are fitting well, or that your braces are moving your teeth on schedule.
It is a genuinely useful thing for busy families. It means fewer trips into Halifax for the routine checks, less time off school and work, and quicker reassurance when you are not sure whether something needs attention. If a photo shows something that does need a proper look, we simply book you in. Virtual monitoring never replaces the hands-on appointments that matter, it just spares you the ones that do not.
Who a virtual visit suits
A virtual consultation is a great fit if you are curious about treatment but not ready to take time off for an in-office visit, if you live outside central Halifax and would rather not travel in twice, or if you are simply more comfortable asking your first questions from home. Parents often use it to get a sense of whether their child needs to be seen before booking the in-person check. Adults weighing up Invisalign or braces use it to understand their options and the likely cost before committing to anything.
There are limits, and we are honest about them. A screen is perfect for answering questions, reviewing your photos and talking through options, but some things, like a full set of diagnostic records and a precise iTero scan, need you in the chair. So if you decide to go ahead after your virtual consult, the next step is one short in-person visit for records. You can always start in person instead if you prefer; the choice is yours, and both routes put you in front of the same specialist. You can read more about Dr. Catherine McLeod before you book, and both begin with the same free consultation.
How to take your six smile photos at home
All you need is a phone, a well-lit room, and a helper for the side shots. Two clean spoons make handy cheek retractors.
1. Smiling, face on
A natural, full smile straight at the camera, teeth showing.
2. Profile, smiling
From your side, smiling, so we can see how your teeth and lips sit.
3. Biting together, front
Teeth gently closed together, lips pulled back so the teeth show.
4 and 5. Biting, each side
The same closed bite from the left, then the right, cheeks held back.
6. Looking up at the top teeth
Head tilted back, mouth wide, camera looking at the biting surface of the upper teeth.
