Sharkie's Smile Club

Meet Sharkie

Sharkie is the Embrace Orthodontics shark, and he has one job: making trips to the orthodontist something Halifax kids actually look forward to. His Smile Club is free, it is for every child we look after, and it starts the moment you say hello at the front desk.

Join free at your first visit

Every child who visits Embrace Orthodontics can join at the front desk. No cost, no forms for kids, just a welcome from the team and the first sticker.

Stickers and small prizes

Members collect a sticker every visit, and there are small prizes and the occasional draw for bigger ones through the year.

Birthday smiles

Sharkie never forgets a birthday. Club members get a birthday smile from the whole team.

What the club is all about

Plenty of children arrive at their first orthodontist visit feeling a little unsure. Sharkie exists to change that. The club gives every child something that belongs to them at Embrace Orthodontics: their own membership, their own sticker collection, and a team that greets them by name. It sounds small, and that is the point. Small, friendly things are exactly what turn a nervous first visit into a place a child feels proud to walk into.

The club is for every Embrace kid, not only those wearing braces. Children in our free growth recalls through the 6-Seeds program are members too, so even a check-up-and-watch visit ends with a sticker and a high five.

How to join, and what members get

Joining could not be simpler: ask at the front desk at any visit, or mention it when you book your free consultation. Membership is free and stays free.

  • A sticker every visit, and a card to collect them on
  • Small prizes along the way, with the occasional bigger draw
  • A birthday smile from Sharkie and the team
  • First news of Sharkie's school events around Halifax

Sharkie also gets out and about. You may spot him at school fairs and smile events at schools across Halifax through the year, and club members always hear about those first.

A note for parents

The club is deliberately simple and completely free, and it is not a marketing gimmick so much as a piece of how we practise. Children who feel at home in the chair grow into teenagers who keep wearing their elastics and adults who keep their retainers in the drawer by the bed. Confidence built at seven pays off at seventeen.

It also gives your child a gentle reason to care about their own teeth between visits, which every parent knows is half the battle. The perks will keep growing as the club does, and if your child is not a member yet, the fix takes thirty seconds at the next visit. If you are new to Embrace Orthodontics, our children's page explains what a first visit looks like, and the first consultation is always free. Sharkie will be waiting by the front desk with a sticker at the ready, and he is very proud of his own perfectly straight bite.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Sharkie's Smile Club cost?
Nothing. The club is free for every Embrace Orthodontics kid in Halifax, and joining takes half a minute at the front desk.
How does my child join the club?
Just ask at the front desk at any visit, or mention it when you book. The team signs your child up on the spot and hands over the first sticker.
Does my child need braces to be a member?
No. The club is for every child we look after, including children in our free growth recalls who are simply being watched as they grow. Braces are absolutely not required.
What ages is the club for?
There is no strict age range. Most members are primary and junior high kids, and the Canadian Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic visit by age seven, which is when many children meet Sharkie for the first time.
What does my child actually get?
A sticker every visit, small prizes and occasional draws, a birthday smile from the team, and first news of Sharkie's school events around Halifax. Simple, free and fun on purpose.
