Clear aligners that keep up with a teenager
Invisalign Teen straightens teeth with a series of clear, custom trays instead of brackets and wires. Your teen wears each set for a week or two, then swaps to the next, and the teeth move a little at a time. Because the aligners come out for meals and cleaning, there is no long list of forbidden foods and nothing to snap before a game or a band recital.
It handles a lot of teenage cases: crowding, spacing, and many overbites, underbites and crossbites. It is not the right tool for every teen, and Dr. Catherine McLeod will say so up front when fixed braces would do a better job. That honest conversation is the whole point of the free consultation. For a wider look at how the systems compare, our clear aligners page walks through the options for teens and adults alike, and the Invisalign page covers the system in detail.
How treatment works at Embrace Orthodontics
We start with a free consultation at our Spring Garden Road office in the South End of Halifax. If Invisalign Teen looks like a good fit, we take a quick iTero digital scan rather than goopy putty impressions, and Dr. Catherine McLeod plans the treatment from it. You get that plan and a written quote before committing to anything, so the fee and the timeline are clear from the outset.
Most teens come in every six to eight weeks so Dr. Catherine McLeod can check progress, changing aligners at home in between. How long it all takes depends on the teeth in front of us, and every mouth is different, so we give you an honest range at the consultation instead of a number off a chart. When the teeth are where they should be, a retainer holds them there. On cost, interest-free monthly plans start at $149 and we direct-bill most insurance, with the numbers laid out on our financing page.
A specialist in your teen's corner
Dr. Catherine McLeod is a certified Invisalign Teen provider, which puts her among the most experienced aligner clinicians in the region. She is a specialist orthodontist, not a general dentist who also straightens teeth on the side, and she plans and reviews every case herself. There is no referral needed and no waitlist; most families are seen within a week or two of getting in touch.
Teenagers do not always wear their aligners as faithfully as they promise, so Invisalign Teen is built for real life. The aligners carry small blue wear indicators that fade as they are worn, which takes the guesswork out of compliance for you and for us. Before treatment starts we also ask that your teen has had a recent dental check-up and cleaning, usually within the past six to twelve months, so we begin on a healthy foundation.
